Nine candidates who contested in the just-concluded House of Assembly elections on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State have challenged in court their rivals in the All Progressives Congress (APC), who were declared winners of the election.
The applicants joined the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendant in the case.
The candidates filed their petitions before the Kano State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting at Miller Road. They prayed the tribunal to grant their request for a motion ex-parte.
The NNPP candidates who approached the court against INEC and APC are Aminu Saidu Ungogo, Isiyiaku Ali Danja, Abdullahi Ali Wudil Manager, Kabiru Getso Haruna, Mahmud Tajo Gaya, Abdullahi Iliyasu, Musa Adamu Ahmad, Aminu Ibrahim Dambatta and Abdu Ibrahim Madaris.
The applicants asked the tribunal to grant their ex-parte motion to inspect the materials used by INEC for the conduct of the state House of Assembly election on March 18, 2023.
Their request also borders on seeking the permission of the tribunal to proceed with the fulfilment of all court processes in relations to pursuing their matter.
