About 900 people have benefitted from a free medical mission put together by Cornerstone Insurance CSR 2023.
To this end, about 180 people from each of the five locations, namely; Lagos, Rivers Akwa-Ibom and Oyo State as well as the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) had medical check-up on diabetes and high blood pressure(HBP) free of charge and those with ailment were given free drugs to resolve their health challenges across the five locations.
Speaking at the Lagos medical outreach programme held in Ogba Multi-purpose Shopping mall, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, the managing director/CEO, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Mr. Stephen Alangbo, said the outreach was carried out by Cornerstone Insurance PLC Foundation (CIPLCF) in various markets of the federation in a bid to improve the health of traders.
Alangbo, who was represented by the head, Marketing and Corporate Communications Group, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Cordelia Ekeocha, said: “CIPLCF put together this plans to conduct free medical tests in various markets of the federation in a bid to improve the health of traders. A team of Doctors and Nurses were stationed in each location to check for Diabetes and Hypertension, give medical advice and provide drugs where necessary. The Ogba medical outreach was the last for this year.”
Disclosing the objectives of the outreach, he stressed that, the Corporate Social Responsibility programme was meant to give back to society, improves the company’s public perception and goodwill in society, creates awareness and visibility for the brand, focuses on touch points in society and creates health solutions as well as educates people on why it is necessary to do health checks.
To him, “We have chosen five locations- Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Uyo and Ibadan. The whole idea was to test 150 people per location but it was surpassed to about 180, reaching a total of about 900 people and we recorded that feat and even surpassed it.
“We executed with the aid of the retail teams in the various locations from 12th October in Ifeleye Market Ibadan and ending 2nd November in Ogba Market, Lagos.”
