All Progressives Congress (APC) executives of Akko and Yamaltu/Deba local government areas of Gombe Central senatorial district have endorsed the expulsion of Senator Danjuma Goje by his Kashere ward party leadership.
Goje was expelled by the party ward executives last week over allegations of indulging in anti-party activities during the last 2023 elections in the state.
The party listed some of the actions of the former governor as failure to attend the APC presidential campaign rally in the state; failure to attend the state APC campaign rally, campaign tours and fraternising with the governorship candidate of an opposition party in the last elections.
Addressing journalists yesterday, the APC chairman of Akko local government area Usman Ahmed Kumo and that of Yamaltu/Deba council Ali Isma’ila said they had deliberated on the decision taken by the Kashere ward leadership of the party and had endorsed their action.
They alleged that during the election, the senator and former governor of the state urged the electorate in his constituency to only vote for him under the APC platform and elect candidates of the opposition in other elective offices.
They also said he was asked to come and respond to the various allegations by the investigation committee set up by the party but he declined to attend the sitting.
“Our senator has committed many offences which are anti-partisan. He went about asking people to vote for only him in the APC. We tolerated and invited him more than three times after the elections to come and answer questions but he refused. What were his reasons? He has no regard for the party,” Akko local government APC chairman Kumo stated. Already, Goje has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the party’s action.
