Edo Speaker, Onobun Bags Development Award

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly and member elect, Esan West, Esan central and Igueben federal constituency to the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Marcus Onobun KSC, has been honoured by the Nigeria House of Dream Parliament (NHODP) FCT, icon of societal development in the legislative arm of government and human capital development award.

The award was presented to the speaker by a four-man delegation of NHODP from the FCT.

Receiving the award, Onobun expressed delight that his  humble contributions  to societal  and human capital development as a state assembly legislator had been recognised by the organization.

He said his passion to make a positive impact on his constituency in particular and Edo State in general gave him the impetus to join politics.

The speaker and member-elect disclosed that having won the election to a higher office he was further pushed to give more to Okpebholo constituency for more development of the people who had given him their support and votes.

“Accordingly as I have received this award even before commencing legislative activities at the House of Representatives, it is a spring board for me to commence my electioneering promises to the people, which includes being a vocal voice, dynamic and adequate representation.

“This award will also spur me to give my best knowing that organisations like yours are watching from a safe distance, would put me on my toes to ensure I hit ground running with my pursuit of food sufficiency and other people-oriented bills and resolutions for a better okpebholo,” he said.

On hand to present the award was a delegation led by the national speaker of NHODP  FCT, Hon. Mike Egilomatics Egila (Kogi)  who introduced NHODP as a non- governmental organisation which is private sector driven.

Egila said the speaker and member elect was chosen because of his immense contributions, selflessness, community service, human capital development, philanthropic disposition, prudent management of resources, team player spirit.
