Nigerians in Cameroun have warned that any attempt to reverse the earlier zoning arrangement by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which slated the office to the South-South with the former minister of Niger Delta Affairs Senator Godswill Akpabio in view could further widen the gap of ethno-religious problems and disunity in the polity.

Under the aegis of Coalition of Nigerians in Cameroon (CNC) the group urged the party leadership to maintain the earlier position, pointing out that the South-South geo-political zone deserves the slot, and Akpabio has the requisite credentials and experience to lead the 10th Senate in order to help the Asiwagu Bola Tinubu administration turn the fortunes of the country around.

Leaders of the group, Comrade Peter Edet, Chief Emeka Ajuonuma, Amb. Charles Eyo, Prince Otobong Ituen, Mr.Iniobong Essien, Chief Anietie Akpata, Sylvanus Nyong, Alhaji Idris Haruna and Mr. Bolaji Ogunyemi in a communique after their emergency meeting in Uyo at the weekend, noted that the bickering over the matter is deliberate politically-motivated action that may further threaten the fragile peace in the country.

They described Akpabio as a politician of no mean repute, goal-getter, social mobiliser, great teacher, visionary leader and a man of uncommon personage who toils day-and- night to deliver what he believes in despite daunting challenges.

They, therefore, called on other well meaning Nigerians in the country and in the Diaspora to shun ethnic, religious or any parochial sentiments  and support the incoming administration of Tinubu with Akpabio as senate president.
