The leader of Abia State governor-elect’s representatives in the state’s transition committee, Rev Fr Christian Anokwuru, has accused the state government’s nominees of foot-dragging even as time is running out for the committee.

Anokwuru who spoke to newsmen yesterday on the extent of work by the committee headed by the secretary to the state government, Chris Ezem, in Umuahia, said; “I want to say it has not been smooth and easy for those of us nominated by the governor-elect, Alex Otti, to interface with the outgoing administration’s team.

“It is expected that the administration ought to avail the governor-elect the handover documents early enough to enable him study the content before the May 29 handover.

“The administration has only a few weeks in office so by now the handover documents covering the government’s activities from 2015 to April 2023 ought to have been ready.

“Unfortunately, the chairman and the nominees appear to be more preoccupied with preparations for the swearing in ceremony rather than the documents.”

Speaking on the allegation of looting of government property by top functionaries of the out-going administration, he said: “It is unthinkable and hard to believe that top members of the Peoples Democratic Party administration can look away and watch its property being looted with such impunity.”

He maintained that the administration’s failure to either deny, condemn, warn or be seen taking concrete action against the suspects seem to reinforce the allegation.
