The ongoing UN HABITAT ASSEMBLY in Nairobi, Kenya, is witnessing some positive signs for the myriad of ecological problems facing parts of the country and a Nigerian attending the sessions Amb. Dr. Johnny Metchie is making an impressive landmark presentation and has signalled his intention to constitute a 12 Man committee to document areas with ecological problems in Nigeria, with a view to presenting it to the global body for action.

According to our newsmen reporting from Kenya, Amb. Johnny said that the UN Habitat would not be successful if the international community particularly the UN fails to acknowledge the ecological problem facing the country especially South East Nigeria where floodings and gully erosion has been hitting states like Imo and Anambra.

Consequently as International Director of African Affairs of the association who is leading the IAWPA delegation to the UN HABITAT ASSEMBLY, he will begin by appointing a 12-Man Committee that would start the Documentation of all the areas with ecological problems in South East beginning from Imo State and seconded by Anambra State and others.

Impressively, Amb. Johnny said that the governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Izodinma is an Eminent Peace Ambassador who had won the SDG award of the International Association of World Peace Advocates IAWPA during the early years of his administration.

Adding that those areas with ecological problems would form the major point of discussion at the forthcoming 2023 SDG Conference in New-York on 18-19 September which will obviously open opportunities that would attract ecological funding and remediation of those affected areas
