A former editor of the Punch Newspapers, Mr. Bola Bolawole, will be delivering a lecture on Tuesday, 13 June, 2023, focusing on the challenges ahead for Nigeria’s recently elected president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A press statement made available to journalists yesterday in Abuja said the lecture, titled: “The Task Before Nigeria’s 16th Head Of State,” will be held at the Chapel Hall of the University of Ibadan, and is part of the 31st anniversary celebration of the Resurrection Morning Star Society.
As a prominent figure in Nigerian media, Mr. Bolawole brings his extensive experience as the former chairman of PUNCH Newspapers’ Editorial Board/deputy editor-in-chief, as well as the managing director/editor-in-chief of The Westerner Newsmagazine.
Throughout his career, the statement said Mr. Bolawole has been actively involved in various political campaigns and committees.
In 2006, it said he served as the national director of media and publicity for the Gen. Mohamed Marwa presidential campaign organization.
In 2011, it said he was a member of the media subcommittee for Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s presidential inauguration committee and in 2022, he took on the role of spokesperson for the Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel presidential campaign council.
Beyond his journalistic pursuits, it said Mr. Bolawole is known for his regular columns, “On The Lord’s Day” in the Sunday Tribune and “Treasures” in the New Telegraph newspaper.
Additionally, he serves as an area pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, adding a spiritual dimension to his wide-ranging expertise.
The statement said the lecture by Mr. Bolawole marks the highlight of a series of events commemorating the Resurrection Morning Star Society.
It said the programme includes visits to charity homes and breaking of fast with worship at the chapel’s committee room on Monday, 12 June, 2023.
Furthermore, it said there will be an induction of new members into the Resurrection Morning Star Society, as well as the induction of incoming executive members.
On Thursday, 15 June, 2023, it said a medical outreach and health talk are scheduled at the Chapel Hall.
Finally, it said the anniversary will conclude with a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday, 18 June, 2023.
It said the lecture is expected to draw attendees from the esteemed University of Ibadan community, including prominent individuals and scholars, as they eagerly engage with the ideas and insights shared by Mr. Bolawole regarding the challenges faced by President Tinubu in his role as Nigeria’s 16th Head of State.
