Amusan Not Happy Despite Stockholm Win

World champion and record holder Tobi Amusan says she is not too happy with where she is at the moment despite her first Diamond League win of the season win in Sotocholm on Sunday.

Amusan defied the rain at the Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm winning the women’s 100m hurdles race in a 12.52 time with a tailwind of +0.9 m/ in a scompetition delayed by rain in a cool evening with a maximum temperature of 15°C/59F.

The win comes days after her third places in Ostrava and second place in Lausanne behind Putero Rican Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho Quinn who won at the event in 12.40 .

Accessing her victory after the race in Stockholm , Amusan said she is excited to be running consistently , adding that she is not too tickled with where she is at the moment.

“I am excited to be out here competing and it is great to get the win on the back of Lausanne. The rain stopped but it was still very cold.

“I am not very happy with where I am but I trust in my coach even when it is not necessarily processing right. I trust in my coach and God and myself.

“I didn’t get well warmed up as it was cold but I got through and I am running consistently so it is good”, Amusan said.

Amusan broke the world record clocking 12.12 in the semifinal of the World Championships in Eugene before winning the world gold medal with a wind-assisted 12.06 in the final.

One month later she added the Commonwealth Games title to her collection with a win in 12.30 in Birmingham.

The Nigerian hurdler picked up two consecutive Diamond League Trophies in Zurich clocking 12.42 in 2021 and a Weltklasse meeting record of 12.29 in 2022, when she beat Camacho Quinn. She improved her seasonal best to 12.47 in Ostrava.
