TETFund Pledges Support For Federal Varsity, Otukpo

The Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arc. Sonny Echono had visited the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State with a pledge to support the institution.

The visit was part of the inspection of infrastructural facilities across tertiary institutions in the country.

Echono, who  was accompanied by Prof. Emmanuel Adanu, Director General, National Water Institute and Mr. Anebi Odeh, were conducted round FUHSO complex by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Innocent Ujah, where the Temporary site, Laboratories, Teaching Hospital, Intensive care unit (ICU), the Judith Ogwa Obla Memorial Kidney Centre that has been donated to the University and the Permanent site were inspected.

The Executive Secretary was pleased with the state-of-affairs in FUHSO and described it as a centre of excellence, where future leaders will be ingrained.

He urged the contractors of the ongoing projects to remain steadfast to the specifications of the contractual agreement and never to contemplate substandard.

Echono promised the management of the University of TETFund’s cooperation and maximum support for the institution to achieve its vision of training and producing high quality healthcare professionals that will contribute to the development of the health sector and the nation.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of FUHSO, Prof. Innocent Ujah, had on behalf of the management staff and students of the University, expressed gratitude and appreciation to Arc. Echono for the visit and briefed him of the State of Affairs in the University. He also appealed for continuous support.

Federal University of Health Science Otukpo is one of the Federal Universities in Nigeria established in 2018.

It is also the second Federal University in Benue State, after Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi and has its main campus located at Akwete-Akpa, Otukpo LGA, Benue State.

The university took off with a total of 230 students who participated in its maiden matriculation at its temporary site in Otada, Otukpo local government area of the State.

On the occasion, the former Minister for Education,  Adamu Adamu said its establishment was part of efforts to reverse the brain drain in the education and health sector.

Established to bridge the huge gap in the medical field, the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo Benue State took its first step towards attaining its set objective.

Over two hundred pioneer students were inducted into specialised health science courses to kick start the unending educational journey for countless sessions to come.

Following the maiden matriculation ceremony, officially declaring the beginning of a new dawn, the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo had joined the league of Universities across the country to deliver education to the country’s teeming population.
