The Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has ordered security agencies in the state, including the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and Amotekun Corps to go after and apprehend the abductors of the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Paul Omotoso and two others and rescue them unhurt.
Oyebanji urged the security agents to use every contrived security means to free the abductees and apprehend the perpetrators and make them face the full weight of the laws.
Omotoso and two other yet to be identified persons were kidnapped by some gunmen along Agbado-Imesi road Saturday evening and whisked to an unknown destination.
He was said to have attended a wedding ceremony at Ikare Akoko, in Ondo State earlier and was heading to Ado Ekiti, the state capital when the evil men struck.
Oyebanji, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, gave the matching order yesterday, when he visited Omotoso’s family at Imesi Ekiti, Ayekire local government area of the state to sympathise with them on the devastating incident.
The governor instructed the security operatives to comb the sprawling forests along Agbado-Imesi-Irun Akoko in Ondo State and other suspected areas to safely rescue the victims.
He said the state government would continue to step up efforts to tighten noose on those who are occasionally terrorising Ekiti through senseless kidnapping and to face the wrath of the law.
Oyebanji assured that the state forest reserves extending from Agbado-Imesi-Ise will be resuscitated and put it to use to dislodge criminals using the area as hideout.
He said, “The Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, received with sadness the kidnap of the State CHairman of APC, Hon Paul Omotoso.
