Spain’s U-20 women’s team produced one of the biggest wins in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup history after thrashing New Caledonia 11-0 in their Group F clash on Thursday.

The emphatic victory, which came in Poland, saw Spain score five times before half-time before adding six more after the break to register a record-breaking margin.

Patricia Comendador opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Marisa doubled Spain’s advantage seven minutes later.

Clara Segura made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute, while Alba Cerrato added a fourth two minutes before half-time.

Marisa completed her brace in first-half stoppage time as Spain went into the interval 5-0 ahead.

There was no let-up after the restart as Segura struck again just a minute into the second half to make it 6-0.

Comendador added her second in the 49th minute before Segura completed her hat-trick four minutes later.

The relentless Segura then converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute to take her personal tally to four and Spain’s lead to 9-0.

Clara Julia made it 10-0 in the 89th minute before Rosa D. Navarro completed the rout with Spain’s 11th goal deep into stoppage time.

The victory gives Spain a huge boost in Group F after they had already defeated Nigeria 2-0 in their opening fixture.

Spain’s back-to-back victories have put them in a commanding position at the top of the group, while New Caledonia’s heavy defeat leaves their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages hanging by a thread.

The result also underlines Spain’s attacking strength as the defending European champions continue their pursuit of another deep run at the global tournament.

For New Caledonia, the 11-goal defeat represents a devastating setback, with the tournament debutants still searching for their first goal and point in the competition.
