Group Accuses Sanwo-Olu Of Plot To Arm-twist Judiciary For APC Candidates

A political group operating under the aegis of Renaissance Political Forum in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, Lagos State has alleged that the Lagos State governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is doing everything possible to arm-twist the course of justice, through the Lagos State House of Assembly Election Tribunal to rule in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

The group who stated this in a briefing yesterday in Lagos further alleged that they are privy to information that indicated that the state governor is plotting to ensure the ruling was in favour of his party candidates in Amuwo-Odofin constituency 1 and 2, where his party candidates Hon. Ola Western and Hon Age Rauf Sulaimon lost the election to the Labour Party, Hon Foluke Osafile and Hon Olukoya Doherty respectively.

According to the g,roup’s director General Wisdom Aruwajoye, they have resolved to resist such sinister motives, noting that the constituencies remain a stronghold of an opposition party.

He said the people of Amuwo Odofin because of the neglect of the constituency by the party in power has always voted for the opposition party , insisting that the place had been the stronghold of the  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before they found a new love with the Labour Party.

Reacting to the allegations, the chief press secretary to Lagos State governor Gboyega Akosile said, ‘’governor Bababajide Sanwo-Olu is a man who believes in the independence of the judiciary and the legislative arm of government. He will never interfere in the judicial process.’’

For the Lagos APC publicity secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, ‘’The group is one man group looking for relevance by mentioning the name of the governor. The governor is a democrat that stands by the rule. As a member of APC if there is any issue there is a legal process to be followed. The governor is not interested  in such a thing, the APC in Lagos is not facing any judiciary threat to warrant such a thing. They should be jobless people, who do not have something to do with their time.’’
