The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Paul Omotoso, and two other persons kidnapped alongside with him last Saturday have regained their freedom.

The victims were released after spending about four days in the kidnappers’ den.

About two days after the incident, reports had it that the families of Omotoso and other kidnap victims were contacted by their abductors who demanded N20million ransom to secure their release.

Confirming their release, the State Police Command said the trio have regained their freedom and have been reunited with their families.

It disclosed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the abduction.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Thursday morning said: “The breakthrough was made possible through the combined efforts of the Police, other sister agencies, the local security outfits and the family members as well as the Ekiti State government.

“Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and are supplying useful information that could lead to the arrest of the prime suspects who are currently at large.”

It was, however, not stated whether a ransom was paid to secure the release the victims or not.
