Governor Buni Assures On Security, Welfare Of Corps Members In Yobe

The Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has expressed the readiness of his administration to ensure the security and enhanced welfare of all corps members posted to the state.

He gave the assurance during the swear-in ceremony of the 2023 batch ‘B’ stream 1 corps members deployed to Yobe State at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Dazigau, Nangere local government area of the state at the weekend.

The governor who was represented by his senior special assistant on wealth creation, empowerment and employment generation, Hon. Abdullahi Bego, said the state government and people believe in the capacity of the corps members, hence the need for their protection and welfare for better results.

He said; “I would like to reiterate the Yobe State government’s commitment of the highest priority to the welfare and security of corps members in every part of the state.

“I have directed all security agencies and community leaders not to rest on their oars in ensuring that a conducive atmosphere and conducive environment are created for all corps members to thrive. Consequently,  the government will continue to improve the facility and infrastructure here at the NYSC camp and conduct occasional upgrades of the camp.”

Buni charged corps members to take the orientation programme seriously as it would provide them opportunities and  required to re-adjust their lives and build confidence.

The coordinator of NYSC in Yobe State, Mrs Hafsat Yerima, said 1, 300 corps members were registered at the orientation and commended them for answering the call to serve their fatherland in the state.

“The orientation course is the pivotal upon which other programmes of the service year rests on, to this extent corps members will be exposed to programmes and activities that will give them a better understanding of the objectives of the NYSC as well as the environment, language and the culture of their host community.

“Consequently, a comprehensive programme has been packed which include; military drills, Man ‘O’ War and leadership training, language studies, sports, etc, which you are expected to undergo the entire corps members serving in Yobe State.”
