Former vice chairman of Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), Alhaji Muktar Adamu Khali, has applauded the chairman of Gombe State Athletics Association, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, for putting together the just concluded maiden edition of inter primary schools athletics championship, describing it as a right step taken to produce national and international athletes in the state.

Khali, who spoke to newsmen in Kano, said Gombe State will dominate athletics events in the country in few years to come with the products of the grassroots developmental event.

According to him, old Bendel State adopted similar programmes in the past, which yielded positive results.

“Apart from dominating various sporting events, Bendel athletes were seen all over states across the country.”

“I have been following the Gombe inter Primary athletics championship through Facebook, I really enjoyed watching it. And hope people should encourage Gara Gombe in this regard,” Khali said.
