Movie Courage has released the trailer for science fiction movie The Pod Generation.

Starring Emilia Clarke and Chinwetalu Ejiofor, The Pod Generation envisions a scarier future of motherhood as our technology-driven world continuous to destructively seek ways to strip humans, this time mothers, of their major biological role, and cede that to Artificial Intelligent creations.

When career woman, Rachael wanted to have a baby, she registers with a womb center – a place where Artificially Intelligent babies are raised in pods (the shape of an egg), that parents can (take home, talk to and wrap around their waist) nurture with the exception of feeding it.

Her husband Alfie played by Chinwetel Ejiofor, who prefers natural birth is initially hesitant (with reason – pod-birth children do not dream and are bored), but with time creates a connection with the egg, leaving Rachael more alienated from the motherly and familiarly dynamic she craved.

Will this end well for the couple or are they in for scientific horrors of a doomsday effect?

Netizens are divided, even as some bash for the Clarke for being in another bound to flop movie.

“The black mirror that we deserved,” @EmeliaSings

“This seems extremely interesting. Emilia historically does fairly well with eggs. I think this film has great potential to be a beautiful commentary on motherhood and pregnancy bonding. Nature created the process the way it did for a reason,”@melissaisloud7404

“Emilia is getting the credit her talent deserves. Finally! Emilia and Chinwetel together is a dream come true,”@feidaronaine7288

“Love the realistic setting and the vibe. Looks aesthetically pleasing,” @leokimvideoo

“Love the pairing of these two. The click for me. This film looks very interesting. Hoping for some social commentary or satire. A film that will say something!

Since its release, the trailer has gained 1.9 million views and 16,000 likes on YouTube, and is set to premiere in cinemas on August 11.
