No Tribalism, Regionalism In Military, Gen Nzan Tells Troops

The Nigerian Army is an indivisible entity with the sole motives of defending the country from both external and internal aggression, the Commander 4 Special Forces Command Nigerian Army, Major General Hillary Nzan, has said.

He said the officers and men of the Army do not pander to ethnic and regional narratives that tended to polarise the country.

He said despite the narratives, the military has acted as a unit in the barracks and at the fronts while fighting to keep the country safe from aggressors.

He spoke during the continuation of an operational visit to the 167 Special Forces Battalion, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri Abuja on Tuesday.

Major Nzan also said the officers and men have remained focused on their goals and kept to the oaths despite coming from different religious backgrounds.

He charged the troops to continue to stay true to the oaths of allegiance as they battle to rid the country of bandits, terrorists and other criminal elements.

The commander urged the troops to keep the flag of professionalism flying by maintaining discipline which has been the hallmark of a good soldier from time immemorial.

He advised them to shun drugs and other acts that impinge on the integrity of the military and undermined its operations.

The commander was received and briefed on the activities of the Battalion by the acting Commanding Officer 167 Special Forces Battalion, Major Temipre Ezonfade.

Major Ezonfade highlighted some of the achievements the Battalion has recorded thus far during the visit.

According to him, the battalion is committed to ensuring that all parts of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja was  secure and safe .

Major Ezonfade commended the commander for the visit, saying the gesture has further boosted the morale of the troops.
