The Nigerian superstar athlete finished ahead of Ackera Nugent, who took the second automatic spot in 12.60s.

Former WR holder Kendra Harrison won the first semifinal race in 12.33s as Jasmine Camacho-Quinn took Heat 3 in 12.41s, ahead of Nia Ali in 12.49s.

Tobi Amusan nicked the win on the line as she overturned NCAA Champion Ackera Nugent’s early lead to qualify for her third consecutive World Championships final.

In a fierce race at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, Amusan competed against the NCAA champion Nugent, World Indoor Champion Cyréna Samba-Mayela, and Dutch Nadine Visser amongst others.

World record holder Amusan must improve her game to stand any chance of defending her title in Thursday’s final.

She is now the only Nigeria’s medal hopefuls at the championship after a tough start for the Team Nigeria as Ese Brume failed to make podium, finishing fourth in the women’s long jump event on Sunday.

The world hurdles champion enjoyed a superb run of form and set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds at last year’s edition of World Athletics Championships in Oregon and a world title that followed in a record time of 12.06.
