A total of 22,202  beneficiaries are targeted for first, second and third phases of the intervention.

While flagging off the first phase of intervention yesterday at Bulasa in Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi state, Governor Nasir Idris  announced formation of committee that would ensure the items reached the targeted beneficiaries in each local government area.

The governor called on the committee members to  ensure that the items were distributed accordingly and urged beneficiaries to use the materials judiciously.

Idris mentioned that the items are free and not for sale, cautioning the committee members and other stakeholders to avoid diversion of the intervention.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu as well as the director-general of NEMA for their commitment towards bringing the items aimed at cushioning the hardship of the people.

Earlier,  the director-general of NEMA,  Mustapha Ahmed who was represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf recalled that Federal government has specially approved the intervention for 2022 flood victims and most vulnerable persons across the  country.

The items distributed were livelihood equipment comprising sewing and grinding machines,  food items such as 25kg of rice, 10 kg of beans and 2kg of vegetables, non food items including mosquito nets, blankets, nylon mats and form mattresses as well as agricultural inputs which comprised maize and rice seeds, pumping machines, herbicides and pesticides among other items.
