Kebbi State government has distributed first phase relief materials  to 9,100 victims affected by 2022 flood disaster and most vulnerable persons in the state under the Federal Government’s Special National Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention.

A total of 22,202  beneficiaries are targeted for first, second and third phases of the intervention.

While flagging off the first phase of intervention yesterday at Bulasa in Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi state, Governor Nasir Idris  announced formation of committee that would ensure the items reached the targeted beneficiaries in each local government area.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi said each committee will be headed by the commissioner in the local government or the special adviser in absence of the commissioner.

The governor called on the committee members to  ensure that the items were distributed accordingly and urged beneficiaries to use the materials judiciously.

Idris mentioned that the items are free and not for sale, cautioning the committee members and other stakeholders to avoid diversion of the intervention.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu as well as the director-general of NEMA for their commitment towards bringing the items aimed at cushioning the hardship of the people.
