The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) generated N35.4 billion in the year 2022.
This is just as the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, approved the promotion and step upgrade of 436 staff of the agency.
The approval was in recognition of the contributions of the staff towards revenue mobilisation mandate and in appreciation of an unprecedented achievement of N35.4billion revenue, which represents 112% of the IGR budget of the State for the year 2022; a great leap from 95.5% achieved in 2021.
The executive chairman of the agency, Mrs Shade Omoniyi, disclosed this during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, the state capital on Monday.
Omoniyi, who said that the sum generated by the agency in 2022 represents 112 per cent of the internally generated revenue (IGR) budget of the state for that year, added that it was a great leap from 95.5 per cent achieved in 2021.
She thanked the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for giving the agency the opportunity and avenue to explore various innovations over the years, leading to improved revenue generation for the state.
Omoniyi also praised taxpayers and other stakeholders who, she said, were strategic in supporting KWIRS seamless processes of tax administration in the state.
She appreciated and charged staff of the agency to continue to work tirelessly in ensuring that the set targets are met at all times.
She urged them to remain focused and dedicated to their assigned duties, and embrace innovations required in a team work to enable the agency achieve more successes.
