Kaduna State commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon Sadiq Mamman Lagos said Governor Uba Sani has vowed to tackle problems associated with fungi attacks on ginger farmlands in the southern part of the state.

He spoke at the renaming of the Jaba Local Government Area Secretariat to Kpop Ham Danladi Gyet Maude Secretariat.

The commissioner commended the Jaba council for organising: “Celebrating Jaba @32” which brought together sons and daughters of Ham to celebrate and offer prayers for the peace and development of the area.

He called on Jaba communities to support the vision of the Uba Sani-led administration, stressing that the Kaduna State government was committed to the peace and security of all parts of the state, adding, “All we ask is cooperation and collaboration with all citizens of Kaduna State to achieve that.”

Lagos, who was represented by Hon Isaac La’ah, called on youths in the state not to despair but rise to the occasion and be engaged in productive efforts devoid of any form of criminal activities. He reiterated the determination of the state government to maintain peace and assist critical stakeholders in the growth of the state.

Harping on problems encountered by ginger farmers, the administrator of  Jaba local government area, Mrs Nita Byack George, emphasised that Governor Sani was leaving no stone unturned to combat fungi attacks on ginger farmlands in the state.

“Let me assure you that since the fungi attacks on ginger farmlands, we have written to relevant ministries seeking intervention on how to combat the epidemic. I have been assured that help has commenced in earnest towards tackling this devastation against ginger production.

“I call on the Ham people to support the Senator Uba Sani-led administration to realise its development objectives at the grassroots. To ginger farmers, I call on you not to give up as help is on the way,” the administrator declared.

In a bid to honour the paramount ruler of the Ham people, Kpop Ham Danladi Gyet Maude, the administrator disclosed that the council secretariat was renamed to honour the reign of the Kpop Ham under whose reign the LGA witnessed tremendous development strides since the creation of the local government area 32 years ago.

Congratulating the entire workforce on the renaming of the council secretariat that was approved by former governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, the administrator appreciated the staff for their support to the development of the LGA, stressing that such meritorious services have gone a long way in realising development for the area.

Calling on the council workers and communities in the LGA to sustain and embrace the actualisation of Governor Uba Sani’s laudable dream for grassroots development, she noted that ‘Celebrating Jaba @32’ afforded stakeholders across communities and political divides opportunity to engage in roundtable deliberations.
