A forum of former zonal women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the deputy senate president, Senator Barau  Jibrin, for including women in his various programmes and intervention activities.

Members of the forum from the six geopolitical zones of the country were on a courtesy visit to the deputy president of the senate at the Senate, Abuja.  The women leaders were led by the former North-West zonal women leader of the APC, Hajiya Yahanasu Buba Ahmed.

Speaking during the visit, a former South-South zonal women leader of the ruling party, Mrs Racheal Akpabio, said the deputy senate president does not discriminate against women.

‘’We are aware of the numerous progressive things you are doing in our party. The most important thing is that you don’t discriminate between women and men in whatever you do, you carry women along.  We are grateful for this.

‘’Some of us have been pioneers of the party since 2014. We carried the party to the nooks and crannies of the country. We are not tired, we are not retired, we are just sitting aside waiting to be called upon to join our helping hands with others to deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizens. We are passionate, sensitive, and loyal,’’ she was quoted in a statement by the spokesperson of the deputy president of the senate, Ismail Mudashir.

Responding, Senator Barau commended the women leaders for their sacrifices to the party. This, he said, has significantly contributed to the overall success of the APC over the years.

He lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi for the passion they have shown in bringing women into various strategic positions for the socio-economic development of the country.

“Your sacrifices since the creation of our great party, the APC have been enormous, enduring, and cannot be easily forgotten. You have sacrificed a lot in terms of time and resources towards the success of our party at all levels.

“In recognition of the sacrifices, passion, and loyalty, we will ensure that you are accorded the necessary recognition through appointments within our party and in government,’’ he said.
