The NGOs advocated for a society free of violence to engender growth and development in the country.

Team leader of NNPJ Ibrahima Yakubu, during a sensitization visit to the IDP camp in Maraban Rido of Chikun local government area of Kaduna State at the weekend, explained that the essence of the visit was to promote forgiveness and religious tolerance among the IDPs.

“Our visit goes beyond imparting knowledge about the culture of peace. We are trying to equip the IDP children with skills which will build their capacity and also promote a culture of peace and non-violence.

“We are also going to organise a reading and writing competition for the children in the camp, this will help them have a sense of belonging like other children.

“The essence of the competition was to sow the seeds of literacy and foster a culture of peace among the displaced youth and children,” he said.

The NGOs donated writing materials and other educational tools to the displaced persons to promote peaceful co-existence among the IDPs.

The founder of ESSEI, Blessing Eko, stressed the need to educate abandoned children, especially the IDPs and to also give them a sense of belonging.
