In his efforts to connect rural communities with access roads, Bauchi State governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has kicked off the construction of a 19km road linking Liman-Katagum-Luda in Bauchi local government area.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the project which cost about N1.4 billion is jointly funded by the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Products (RAAMP) with support from the World Bank.

The road will provide access to three agrarian communities with huge agricultural potential – Liman-Katagum, Lekka and Luda communities where every rainy season, the communities remain inaccessible.

The governor who flagged off the project in Liman Katagum yesterday reaffirmed his commitment to providing the dividends of democracy to the electorate.

He said more road projects would be executed despite the economic difficulties prevalent in the country.

Earlier, the commissioner for rural development and special duties, Farouk Mustapha, said the road project was a “fulfilment of the promise made to the residents of the benefiting communities during electioneering campaigns of the governor.”

He said the Liman-Katagum-Lekka-Luda Road is a demonstration of the commitment of the Bala Mohammed-led administration to deliver on promises made to the electorate in the state.

A resident of Anguwar Malam said the road would address their transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season.

He said their communities are often cut off from the rest of the state and the country during the rainy season.
