Speaking on the occasion of the 93 National Day of Saudi Arabia, in Abuja, on Monday, Alghamdi said the historic relations between the Kingdom and Nigeria are firm and on an upward trajectory.

He said more than 200,000 Nigerian pilgrims, mu’tamir and visitors visited his country last year, adding that Saudi has given more than 200 scholarships to Nigerian students to study in different universities in the Kingdom.

Alghamdi said Saudi was executing the Nur-Saudi Voluntary Campaign in Nigeria, which will be implemented in phases with the first stage that focused on combating blindness completed.

He stated that as part of the campaign, the Kingdom also embarked on open heart and urology surgeries on some Nigerians even as he congratulated the parents of Nigerian conjoined twins that were successfully separated in the Kingdom last May.

The Ambassador also lauded Nigeria for supporting the Kingdom’s bid to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh, which coincided with the targeted date of the Saudi Vision 2030.

He said Saudi Arabia was “celebrating 93 years of unifying parts of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud -May Allah rest his soul- under one strong entity built on tolerant Islamic creed in which equality, justice and confidence prevails, and as the first fixed-line model in the modern era of Middle East.”
