LEADERSHIP reports that after receiving N2 billion of the N5 billion fuel subsidy removal palliatives, the federal government pledged to 36 states of the federation and FCT, Bauchi procured over 88,000 bags of 25kg rice for distribution to citizens of the state.  Similarly, Governor Mohammed tasked emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu to lead the rice palliative distribution committee.

The governor said this in his Eid-el-Maulud goodwill message to the citizens of the state signed by the special adviser on media and publicity, Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado.

“As you all know, both the federal and state governments have taken necessary measures to cushion the effect of the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of subsidy on petrol.

“I would like to appeal to you to continue to exercise patience while the palliatives provided by the state and federal governments are distributed. I want to assure you that the state government will not relent in its effort to ensure that the economic hardship is reduced to the barest minimum,” he said.

Governor Mohammed reiterated the commitment of the administration to the maintenance of law and order in the state, saying, ” The government has, in collaboration with security agencies, taken all measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of people in the state.”

He added, “I would therefore like to appeal for your continued support and cooperation in order to sustain and improve on the existing peaceful atmosphere in the state. The government would not condone any act that is capable of causing rancour and disorder.”

Mohammed warned that any person or group of persons found to be involved in any act capable of truncating the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the state will be dealt with according to the law.

He called on Muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud to pray for peace and prosperity of the state and the nation in general.
