As Nigeria celebrates her 63rd independence anniversary, a group, Arewa Think Tank (ATTAK), has said all 19 governors who served during the Second Republic, most of whom have died, deserve national posthumous honours.
The convener of the group, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, in a statement yesterday, urged President Bola Tinubu to give the late governors such honour.
Yakubu said majority of the governors were poor when voted into power and left office even poorer.
He said the accusation of corruption against the second republic government that led to military takeover was a child’s play compared to the level of corruption among political leaders in the country in the last eight years.
The group advised President Tinubu to learn from leaders before him since the country became independent as someone who witnessed all political developments in the last 63 years.
It also called on the leadership of the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Law to dispense with all election cases before elected officials are inaugurated.
