In response to these concerns, the foundation is gearing up to host a pivotal conference aimed at revitalising education in the North.

The chairman of the organising committee and secretary of the board of trustees of the foundation, Ibrahim Shekarau emphasised the necessity of an all-encompassing stakeholder engagement.

He stressed the need to thoroughly examine the research findings and engage policymakers and implementers in a constructive dialogue.

Shekarau, a former governor of Kano State, expressed optimism about the conference, envisioning it as a collaborative platform for brainstorming and problem-solving among education stakeholders.

“Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, in its commitment to enhancing education, has sponsored a groundbreaking research project titled ‘Education in Northern Nigeria: Status, Challenges, and the Way Forward,’” Shekarau said.

“The results of this research have illuminated a rather grim situation while providing valuable insights into how we can rejuvenate the educational landscape in the northern region,” he added.

The conference is scheduled to take place next Tuesday in Abuja.

Shekarau underlined the collective effort required to address the pressing educational challenges in northern Nigeria.

He expressed confidence that the conference would offer a unique opportunity for all stakeholders to share their perspectives, experiences, and recommendations.

“Education stands as the cornerstone upon which the future of society is constructed. It is imperative that innovative solutions are collectively sought to tackle the hurdles confronting the education system in northern Nigeria,” he added.
