Israel’s military has vowed to intensify airstrikes on Gaza and warned Palestinians still in the North of the territory to flee South.

A military spokesman said this would allow Israel to “minimise the risks to our forces in the next stages of the war” – which is expected to be a ground invasion.

Images from a central Gaza hospital show lines of bodies, including at least 12 children. It was not clear when or where they died.

One member of staff at the hospital told newsmen that they were running out of shrouds for the dead.

Hamas said 266 Palestinians have been killed in the past 24 hours, including 117 children while Israel said it killed “dozens of terrorists” overnight.

There are signs that more aid might reach Gaza on Sunday as 17 aid trucks have been seen lining up on the Egypt side of the border.

It has been two weeks since Hamas launched its assault on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people.

Palestinian officials in Gaza said more than 4,600 have been killed since the war erupted.
