As the harmattan season approaches, the founder of Non-governmental organization (NGO) under the aegis of Educational Development, Family and Community Peace Foundation (EDFCPF), Reverend Margaret John has distributed winter kits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maraban Rido, Kaduna.
John during her visit at the IDP camp yesterday in Kaduna explained that the purpose of her visit was to provide assistance to the children at the camp by offering cold-weather clothing to protect them from cold-related diseases that may come during the harmattan season, she said.
She said, “Each time I remember what our children are going through at the IDP camps, tears roll down my eyes. That is why I am here to support them”.
Harmattan season brings unique health and environmental challenges, affecting skin, hair, and overall well-being. As the season approaches, thousands of IDPs are in urgent need of support from well-meaning Nigerians .
The clothes she distributed includes; winter jackets, stockings, hand gloves, headwarmers and many others.
John therefore appealed to wealthy individuals, corporate organizations and others to assist the IDPs at various camps in order to save lives, especially children.
Responding, the camp commander, Mr. Sule Adams, commended the NGO for putting smiles on their faces.
