As voters cast their votes for the next governor of Kogi State this Saturday, officers and men of the Nigeria Army have begun a total lockdown of major highways within the capital city and other areas known for electoral violence in the State.

When LEADERSHIP visited the popular Adankolo Junction in Lokoja, a military Amoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was seen barricading the entrance to the area with Army officers running proper checks on vehicles that are on election duty.

Residents of Adankolo expressed satisfaction that the military personnel were stationed in their community for the first time. This, they said, will reduce the election violence that the area is known for.
