Some nurses in Kuje General Hospital under the auspices of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Kuje branch, have carried out a medical outreach to over 200 Nigerians.

The outreach included essential services such as malaria testing and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, routine drug distribution, and counseling for expectant mothers.

Chairman of the branch, Comrade Adeyemi Joy, said the medical mission unfolded in Pegi and Sabo communities in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT aligned with the commemoration of the 2023 Nurses Week activities.

She expressed gratitude to God for the privilege of celebrating the 2023 Nurses Week and emphasised the branch’s commitment to advancing healthcare for the impoverished residents in the rural areas of Kuje.

She underscored the significance of the outreach, disclosing that more than 200 individuals were direct beneficiaries of the healthcare services provided during this noble endeavor.

She attributed the success of the programme to collaborative efforts with special acknowledgment to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Dr. Moriamo Shuaibu (medical director of Kuje General Hospital) and Mrs. Sabo (Kuje Area Council first lady).

In addition to medical services, she said the group donated diapers and vitamin A for infants, worm expellers and vitamin A&C for older children, sanitary pads for teenagers and young women, as well as distributing toilet rolls and mosquito nets to all attendees.

She said glucose and blood pressure checks were conducted, with necessary referrals made when required.
