TGI Cares Foundation has stressed the need for public-private collaborations to achieve sustainable food security against hunger.

To achieve this, the foundation said it has partnered with FoodClique, a non-governmental organisation to eradicate hunger.

At a symposium to mark the 2023 World Food Day, head, corporate communications, TGI Group, Rafiat Gawat, emphasised the need for sustainable and innovative solutions to address global hunger for the common good.

She said it remains essential that stakeholders build and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with an approach to introduce sustainable initiatives to address hunger especially in the time of emergencies and natural disasters.

She said, “There is no gainsaying that all stakeholders in society must come together to address something as crucial as food security. From government at all levels to organized private sector, traditional institutions, non-governmental organizations, multilateral organizations and so on.

“We must transform our empathy into action and make a tangible difference in the lives of the vulnerable. This is why we partner with organizations such as Food Clique among others as part of our contribution to creating a world where no one is left behind.”

The CEO of FoodClique Support Initiative, Ibrahim Onilegbale, also stressed the critical role of water access for farmers and the population in achieving sustainable food security.

He lauded TGI for its extensive collaborations with FoodClique, which he said have significantly benefited the most vulnerable individuals facing hunger. He further encouraged private organisations to join in the effort to create a food-secure society.
