Bayelsa Govt Assures On Nembe/Brass Road

The Bayelsa State government has dismissed claims that work on the Nembe/Brass road in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state was stalled, declaring that the construction of first phase of the road linking the two coastal local government areas would be completed as scheduled.

The road project, divided into three phases with the first commencing from Nembe to Saint Nicolas River and the second phase would be a 600 metre bridge crossing the river, while the third phase would be from the bridge to Twon-Brass. The first phase,which is ongoing has been awarded at the first phase with10 bridges awarded to Setraco Nigeria Limited for N54.1billion

 

The chairman of the Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr. Ebiye Tarabina, while speaking during a tour of project sites including the Nembe/Brass road, the new commissioners’ quarters and the Sagbama/Ekeremor road project, noted that the project was at the clearing level with over 900 meters cleared.
The surveyor of Setraco construction company, Mr. Maha Salisu on the Nembe/ Brass road project, while briefing Engr. Tarabina during the tour, stated that the company had a target of clearing 200 meters daily, and commended the state Government for awarding the contract, noting that with the determination of the present administration on infrastructural development, the company would be able to complete the project on schedule.
Engr. Tarabina in his response lauded Setraco, the company handling the project for the progress made, but however urged the company to expedite action in the coming days to achieve greater height.
