All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all the 38  chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats in Saturday’s local government elections held in Ekiti State.

The Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) declared the APC winner of the election.

The EKSIEC chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (rtd), who announced the results of the poll, said the ruling party won all available 38 chairmanship and 177 councillorship seats.

The election, it would be recalled, was conducted in all the 177 wards, 22 local council development areas and 16 local government areas of the state.

Justice Akintayo made the declaration at the situation room of the state electoral body in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The announcement  followed the presentation of the results by the returning officers in all the local government areas (LGAs) and local council development areas (LCDAs)  of the state.

EKSIEC commissioners and principal officers joined the chairman at the presentation of the election results.

The EKSIEC chairman praised the residents of the state for conducting themselves peacefully during and the exercise violence free.

He commended all the parties that participated in the election for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship.
