Agada Faults APC’s 90-Day Economic Plan As Unrealistic

The Presidential Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Architect Dr. Peter Agada, has dismissed the federal government’s newly approved 90-day action plan to ease cost of living as a mere campaign strategy that does not reflect Nigeria’s current economic reality.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, announced that the National Economic Council (NEC) had approved a 90-day emergency plan aimed at cushioning the effects of hardship on Nigerians.

Reacting through a telephone chat, Dr. Agada said the APC-led administration has failed repeatedly despite rolling out several intervention measures, noting that none has translated to tangible relief for citizens.

According to him, his #LabourDirect Wards-Ward development strategy remains the most effective option, capable of empowering Nigerians with N40 million monthly and capturing the entire population within 60 days of implementation.

“We said 60 days; about 20 days are gone before the elections. They have to take a look at our ward-to-ward development plan. If they approach me to implement it, Nigerians will have more confidence,” he stated.

Dr. Agada argued that government should invite credible candidates with workable ideas to help fix the micro-economy, adding that its proposed dashboard must incorporate the LIN System (Labour Direct Information Network) for real-time monitoring.

He explained that the LIN System would directly monitor projects, employment, production, evaluation, feedstock, outputs, tax and revenues from a single application for transparency.

The YPP presidential candidate also recalled that the Finance Minister had announced subsidy interventions about two weeks ago with no positive impact, insisting the economic team has lost its bearing.

“All his intervention plans, including reduction of pump price, removal of illegal levies and the 17-point plan did not land with Nigerians. Now they came up with a 90-day timeline because election is 85 days away. These promises are mind games,” he said.

Dr. Agada further listed failed interventions since 2023, including N75 billion for manufacturing, N75 billion for micro SMEs, N50 billion conditional grants, grain distribution, N200 billion for cultivation of 500 hectares, N100 billion for CNG and infrastructure funds, lamenting that tariff waivers on food imports did not crash food prices.
