“With the state of insecurity in the country, we also fear that the continued absence of electricity could make our community prone to attacks by criminal elements such as bandits and kidnappers”.
The monarch of the community, Oba Gabriel Aboyeji, stated that the people of the town had suffered enough hardship as a result of the prolonged power outage.
Aboyeji said: “The transformer that supplied electricity to communities within Edidi stopped working over six months ago. We have made several efforts to get the transformer replaced but all our efforts have not yielded positive result.
“We have written letters to the member representing Isin at the Kwara House of Assembly, Hon. Awolola Ayokunle, and Hon. Raheem Olawuyi Ajulo-Opin, representing Irepodun/Oke-Ero/Isin/Ekiti Federal Constituency, but they have all turn deaf ears to our pleas.
“Our people continue to suffer hardship as a result of absence of basic amenities like electricity and water.
The main source of water supply in our town is currently down. We are appealing to our lawmakers and the state government to quickly come to our aid.”

A community leader, Yusuf Gbadamosi said businesses had suffered since the town was thrown into darkness.

He said that criminals could also use the prolonged blackout to attack the community at night.
