Togo Varsity Honors Nigerian Lawmaker With Doctorate Degree

The Member of the House of Representatives for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, Honorable Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, has been conferred with a Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) in Diplomacy and International Relations by a prestigious university in Lome, the Republic of Togo.

The momentous conferment took place at the 10th Convocation of the university, held at Palais de Congres in Lome, the capital city of Togo.

A statement issued by Aminu Lawal, the Special Assistant on media and communication to the lawmaker, confirmed the honour bestowed upon Bungudu.

During the convocation ceremony, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, assisted by the Registrar Dr. Adamu Muhammad Wakili, presented the Certificate of Conferment to the distinguished lawmaker.

They highlighted Hon. Zubairu’s exceptional track record and his significant contributions towards improving the lives of the people he represents, which played a pivotal role in the university’s decision to confer the honorary doctorate upon him.

The university acknowledged Hon. Zubairu’s noteworthy involvement in educational initiatives, empowerment programs, humanitarian efforts, and social services within his community. Particularly noteworthy was his sponsorship of numerous bills within a short period after assuming office, as well as his instrumental role in creating job opportunities for unemployed youths through the establishment of self-reliant businesses.

Expressing gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him, Hon. Zubairu reaffirmed his commitment to empowering the youth. He announced plans to further invest in supporting the education of students from his constituency studying in Togo, having previously provided scholarships to seventy students.

In his remarks, he urged the scholarship beneficiaries to uphold the laws of the Republic of Togo, emphasizing the importance of respecting the laws of their host country for their personal growth and the betterment of their home country.

Hon. Zubairu was accompanied by the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Togo, Mr. Stephen Odigan, and a delegation from Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, during the prestigious event where he received the Certificate of Conferment.
