A change agent and education advocate, Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye, has commissioned a cutting-edge library at Adeyemi Federal University of Education in Ondo State, reaffirming her unwavering commitment to advancing learning.
The library houses an extensive collection of books across diverse disciplines, ensuring students and faculty have access to a broad spectrum of academic literature and research materials.
At the ceremony yesterday, Osamaye said the state-of-the-art library provides digital resources, adding that the facility facilitates seamless access to online databases and journals.
With comfortable study areas, collaborative spaces, and technologically advanced multimedia rooms, she said the library creates an optimal environment for both individual and group learning.
Osamaye emphasised the importance of education in national development, stating, “Developing the nation starts from the classroom.
I decided to build and donate this library not because I earn much, but because I believe our students need a conducive place for studying and for them to cultivate a culture of reading and learning.”
The deputy vice chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Akure, on his part, highlighted the significance of having libraries on educational premises, stressing its role in strengthening students’ horizons.
A former provost of the institution, Prof Adeyemi Idowu, characterised the initiative as a wake-up call for others to contribute to education, noting that, “It’s not as if the donor is richer than others, but the commitment and passion to give back.”
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the academic community, the deputy vice-chancellor of the institution acknowledged Osamaye’s transformative gift. He said, “By providing this ultramodern library, Osamaye has demonstrated her firm belief in the transformative power of education.”
The member representing Ondo West constituency II at the state House of Assembly, Hon Biola Oladapo said the library symbolises progress and innovation shaping the future of education at the institution.
He added that the donation marks a significant milestone for education in Ondo, leaving a lasting impact on the academic community.
