In this edition, we present to you a young man who has taken music and ICT/Media business to the next level for Nigeria.

His story…

Oluwaseun Olaegbe hails from Ifedayo local government area in Osun State, Born and raised in Lagos, attended the Lagos State Model College Igbonla Epe where he completed his secondary education and went on to attend the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomosho Oyo state where he studied Computer Science and Engineering before embarking on his music career.

He discovered his love for music quite early in life and took advantage of his passion to make a brand for himself. His biggest challenge was lack of funds as “his rags to riches” story wasn’t a tale of bed of roses, but he refused to give up as he knew that his day would break soon.

Oluwaseun would stay with his classmates after class at a record store to record tunes and lyrics as that became his passion.

He studied Computer Science and Engineering because he has always been fascinated about computers as a child and also because he needed to get an education. His dream was music to the extent that he was ready to become a music personality after school.

Amazingly, he was so young when he started writing down lyrics for his friends and even banking lyrics for future purposes. He had to do different kinds of businesses to make ends meet in school while feeding his passion.

Even though he saw that things were tough from the beginning, he didn’t relent one bit. At some point, he needed money to release the album and had to take loans.

At the venue of the music launch, people were already waiting, but unfortunately, everything wasn’t yet in place for the lunch. Oluwaseun almost suffered a heartbreak, thinking he wouldn’t be able to sell any of his songs of the time schedule, but he resolved to be resilient.

He picked himself up, and 400 copies of the CD were sold out that day.

After youth service, he was advised against releasing songs without proper planning. He decided to publish a magazine which will center on music, entertainment, business etc. He named his magazine Yessiey magazine, but he couldn’t sustain it for lack of funds.

To be able to survive, he enrolled for Programming and Web Development professional certification programme on Harvard website, completed the training aswell as projects and earned his professional certificate after which he also enrolled for Digital Marketing professional training course on Google platform where he earned his Digital Marketing practicing Certificate, he got a job as a Web Designer and Digital Marketing Consultant with Crepaway Nigeria where he was paid as a contractor and later worked for many other start ups and established brands both locally and internationally, While working with these brands , he was able to raise money to continue his Yessiey platform that birthed “Yessiey Magazine” and “Yessiey Awards”

INVESTMENTS

He is the CEO of Skilzar Digital, a design and advertising agency that created the Yessiey platform and organizes “The Yessiey Awards” which was established by Oluwaseun in 2022, to recognize outstanding achievement around the globe.

It is an annual ceremony that features performances by established and promising individuals.

RECOGNITION

Today, Oluwaseun Olaegbe is a model to several youths, including musicians and entrepreneurs. He has scaled through difficult times of starvation, lack, debts, deprivation, and lack of sleep, and he has attained global recognition.

He is a member of the British Computer Society (BCS), The Chartered Institute for IT, and Forbes BLK. Oluwaseun Olaegbe was awarded by Nigeria book of records because of his exploit in the ICT and media industry.
