Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured of the federal government’s commitment to collaborate with the Nasarawa State for infrastructure development in Karu area of the state.
He made the pledge at the official opening of the five kilometer Masaka-Luvu Road in Karu local government area of the state.
Karu shares border with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and is home to many federal government workers.
The vice president who lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for embarking on projects which has direct bearing on the people said the federal government would partner the state in transforming the Karu area through the needed infrastructure and other interventions.
He said the Masaka-Luvu road was key to unlocking the economic potential of Karu and by extension the FCT.
“Karu is a metropolis on the rise, and this road is a key step towards unlocking its full potential. It will improve access to markets, jobs and essential services, ultimately boosting the lives of countless residents,” he stated.
He also commended Governor Sule for partnering the federal government on other key projects, adding; “This is a testament to Governor Sule’s dedication to the people of Nasarawa. He understands that infrastructure is the backbone of development, and he’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get things done.”
In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed appreciation that the road was being commissioned considering the historical nature of the road.
He said though his administration executed bigger road projects like the 24km Mararaba-Udege stretch conceived nearly 30 years ago and the 18km Sisin-Baki-Farin Ruwa road leading to the first hydropower plant started by former governor Adamu, the Masaka-Luvu road is historical because successive administrations were not opportune to construct the road.
He said he was motivated to execute the project after he accompanied former vice president Yemi Osinbajo to Luvu to commission a housing project during which a journey of about 15 minutes took close to one and a half hours because of the terrible state of the road.
“Every governor from Abdullahi Adamu that came to this place had promised doing this road. You can imagine my excitement today that this road has been completed,” he said.
