Kebbi State government in collaboration with POBITECH Consultancy Service has commenced the training of 2,400 primary school teachers in the state.

Declaring the training open at the Theatre Hall of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris said his administration had begun a revolution in the education sector.

He urged the teachers, parents, educators, institutions, government at all levels, individuals and organisations and other stakeholders to join his administration to move the sector forward.

Idris said, “Let me use this medium to inform this gathering that I am going to give more priority to teachers, especially their welfare.”

The governor said his administration would support the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment.

He enjoined the participants to be committed to the training and expressed the readiness of his administration to key into whatever would promote and project the teaching profession.

The rector, Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Dr Usman Sani-Tunga, commended the governor for the initiative, describing training and retraining of teachers as the best way to drive the sector to prosperity.
