The police on Thursday arraigned a woman and her two sons before a Jimeta Chief Magistrate Court in Adamawa State for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing items and N637,000 in cash.

The police charged Sa’adatu Suleiman, 42, Sulieman Sulieman, 18 and Mohammed, 23, all of Janbutu, Yola, with criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and theft.

The three defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ezra Bulus, told the court that on Jan. 8, at 3:30 pm, the complainant, Yusuf Mohammed of Janbutu ward, reported the matter at the Jambutu police station.

Bulus alleged that on the said date, the complainant left his house at 6:30 a.m. for work and when he returned home at 8:30 pm, he discovered that his house had been broken into.

Bulus alleged that the defendants also stole one Infinix phone and one Tecno phone both valued at N68,000 and N5,000, respectively.

Bulus said the offense contravened the provisions of sections 60, 345 and 276 of the penal code law of Adamawa State 2018.

Chief Magistrate Musa Adamu, however, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each and one surety each in like sum.

Adamu ordered that the sureties must be reliable, resident within the jurisdiction of the court with a valid identification card which must be verified by the court registrar.
