The Special Assistant to Benue State Governor on Yoruba Community, Otitolaye Steven, has said collaborative effort is needed to end the issue of insecurity in the state.

Steven in a chat with LEADERSHIP said the administration of Governor, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia is towing the path of peace, and working tirelessly with all relevant stakeholders to end all forms of conflicts in Benue.

He said without peace and collaboration between different tribes in Benue State, there would be no economic development.

He noted that the farmers/herdsmen crises has been a challenging situation faced in the state as farmers are finding it difficult to return to their farms.

While recognizing the presence of ethnic and religious differences, he stressed on the need for all tribes and stakeholders to come together to find a lasting solution to end conflicts in the state.

He acknowledged the governor’s efforts in working closely relevant stakeholders to bring lasting peace to the state within the last eight months he took over the affairs of the state.

He said: “The Governor has been doing so much since he took over the affairs of the state. We have not seen such appointment he has made since 1999.

“This is to show he wants all hands on deck to move the state forward.

“My appointment as an SA on Yoruba community has really brought the government closer to the people.

“He is a detribilised governor and anything we demand from him in terms of social amenities, we get it.

“There are still problems with roads, networks, jobs, and overloading transformers, so we need more transformers and we are hoping that with the help of the governor, we will get all”.
