An operative of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, Robert Olorode, has been beheaded by kidnappers while attempting to deliver a ₦500,000 ransom for the release of his abducted younger brother in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Community sources said the incident followed the abduction of Elijah Okeleye, a resident of Afija’s Compound in Ilaji-Oke, who was reportedly kidnapped by armed men on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, while returning from his farm in the Saaji-daada axis of Kajola.
The kidnappers initially demanded ₦15 million from the family for Okeleye’s release, but reportedly reduced the ransom to ₦500,000 after days of negotiations.
In an attempt to secure his brother’s freedom, Olorode volunteered to deliver the money to the kidnappers at their hideout.
However, the abductors allegedly overpowered and beheaded him when he arrived at the designated meeting point, leaving the family and community devastated.
The traditional ruler of Ilaji-Oke, the Bajigan, Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, confirmed the incident when contacted by journalists.
Oba Oladosu said Olorode was an active member of the Amotekun security corps but stressed that he undertook the ransom delivery as a private citizen seeking to secure his brother’s release, rather than in an official security capacity.
As of the time of filing this report, local security formations and police operatives were said to have intensified efforts to track down those responsible for the killings and abduction.
The incident has heightened concern among residents of Kajola over the activities of armed criminal groups operating around rural communities and farm settlements.
