In what seems to be a response to the rising crime waves in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Nasarawa State Police command has ordered the deployment of operatives across the borders within the country’s seat of power.

The commissioner of police in the state, Umar Shehu Nadada gave the directive in Lafia on Wednesday.

In the directive which was made public through a statement by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the CP said the move was intended to avert a spillover of the security breaches into the state.

LEADERSHIP reports that worried by the upsurge in criminal activities in FCT, its minister, Nyesom Wike had on Tuesday, January 16, called for an emergency security meeting on ways to tackle the menace.

The minister was also present at the security meeting held by President Bola Tinubu with the service chiefs on the prevailing security situation in the country the same day.

CP Nadada said all identified areas bordering the FCT will be effectively policed by men and officers of the command as well as those of other sister security agencies.

He therefore urged area commanders New Karu, Keffi, and Nasarawa and all Divisional Police officers under  them to mobilise their personnel and Vigilante for the task.

He also implored them to partner with traditional rulers, community leaders and sister security agencies in order to dominate the affected areas.

CP Nadada charged them to be civil in the dealings with members of the public, as no laxity and unprofessional conduct shall be tolerated.

He assured residents of the commitment of the command to providing an impregnable security architecture in the state for their safety.
