Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested five suspects during clearance operations in mountainous terrain in Nasarawa Eggon local government area.

LEADERSHIP learnt that operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, conventional police and tactical teams stormed Tudun Hawa Uku, Kurmin Gogo, Rafin Ayaba, and adjoining mountainous areas.

It was gathered that substances suspected to be hard drugs, including ice (crystal methamphetamine), as well as related paraphernalia, were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this in a statement, said the suspects were currently in custody.

Nansel said investigations were ongoing to establish their involvement in criminal activities and identify any other possible links.

He said the operation was part of efforts to flush out criminal elements, dismantle hideouts, and enhance security in the state.
