A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mathias Byuan, has said contrary to insinuations, there is no political tension in Benue State.

According to Byuan, all the perceived political mudslinging in the state will be fixed at the appropriate time, hence there was no call for alarm.

The APC governorship aspirant in the 2023 general elections who stated this in an interview with journalists in Abuja maintained that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, remains the political leader of Benue since 1999.

He said: “There is no political tension anywhere. There is only one lion in the forest of Benue. The lion in the forest of Benue is Sen. George Akume. Since 1999 God has blessed him to be the leader of the state. They don’t drag to be the leader. No Benue son can drag to be a leader. Sen George Akume does not look for leadership, he is humane and that’s why he has the followership.

“Since 1999, anybody who is a politician in Benue who benefits from politics you must come through George Akume. Is not that he is God but that’s what God has designed that it must be there. The only thing we will do for him is to pray for him to make sure he helps us.”
