Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged the six area council chairmen to stop running away from pressure and responsibilities in their areas.

Wike, who made the call at the stakeholders security meeting in Kuje area council at the weekend, told the chairmen to empower and increase the logistics of vigilante groups and security officials in their domains.

The minister who noted that failure on their part in that direction is another security threat, promised to fix some roads like Kuje-Robochi road, Peigyi relocation road and Kuje-Gwagwalada road among others, said abandoned projects can constitute insecurity in a community.

While asking for the cooperation of Kuje residents to deal with insecurity, the minister implored political leaders, traditional and religious leaders and youths to take security seriously.

He assured that informants of bandits would suffer the same fate as bandits if they fail to repent.

Earlier, the chairman of Kuje area council, Suleiman Sabo, requested for the stoppage of illegal mining in the council, nothing that the activity was contributing to crimes, especially kidnapping.

Sabo noted that abandoned road projects in some difficult terrains were making it strenuous for security agencies to move fast against escaping bandits and other criminals.

The Gomo of Kuje, Alh.  Haruna Tanko Jibrin asked the minister for either an army or police barracks in Kuje village where kidnapping is frequent.

He pledged the support of traditional leaders and people of the area council in the fight against insecurity.
